Aleksander Babenko

Aleksandr Babenko has been an International Arbiter and Chess International Organizer since 2001. He is a Candidate Master of Sports in bench press, as well as an Honoured Coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan in chess with 19 years of experience. He is involved in major chess events and makes a significant contribution to the chess scene.

He was appointed as an arbiter in the following tournaments:

  • The 2nd World Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities – Deputy Chief Arbiter
  • Senat Open FINAL 2025 — Chief Arbiter
  • Kazakhstan Men's Championship, Final 2024 — Chief Arbiter
  • Pavlodar Open – Chief Arbiter
  • Open Cup of Akim Almaty Region – Chief Arbiter
Aleksandr Babenko is the organizer of the Senat Open, a country-wide tournament series highly appreciated by the chess community. Furthermore, together with his colleagues, he initiated the Pavlodar Open – one of the strongest tournaments from the Urals to the Far East, which has been held since 2006.

Currently, Aleksandr Babenko holds the post of Vice-President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation and chairs the KCF Arbiters’ Qualification Commission.His leadership encompasses the training, certification, and professional advancement of the country's arbiters.
